An ergonomic grip makes it easy and comfortable to carry and the large, intuitive button layout keeps you in confident control at all times. 48X Mega-Zoom Range (12X Optical, 4X Digital) - The DiMAGE Z3 features a high-quality, 12X optical GT Mega Zoom (equivalent to 35 - 420mm on a 35mm camera). This newly developed APO (apochromatic) lens provides strikingly clear, high-contrast, high-resolution images. AD (anomalous dispersion) glass and two aspheric elements help the DiMAGE Z3 correct spherical aberration and curvilinear distortion - two factors that can cause problems at high zoom ranges. Multiple coatings on 14 lens surfaces ensure minimal flaring and ghosting for digital images you`ll be proud to share and display. Combining the 12X optical zoom with 4X digital zoom gives you a 48X total zoom, ideal for taking long-distance shots at sports events, shooting wildlife, or capturing far-away scenery. With the digital zoom, the Z3`s total zoom range is equivalent to 35 - 1680mm on a 35mm camera.
