The roving artist finds fascination in the Balinese` religious fervor: "I saw the people engaged in some ritual, I could see them through an ancient gate and I thought the architecture, the beliefs, the atmosphere and the Balinese` daily life was well represented in this place." Saokong works with watercolors to capture the exotic spectrum of colors that is Bali, while his meticulous brushwork details the images adorning this temple`s entrance. Saokong is masterful at capturing the mystical aura that imbues the setting, rendering this painting an inspiring work of art. Painted on Canson paper, the painting arrives framed in rain tree wood painted gold. Handmade by Surasit Saokong "My name is Surasit Saokong, I was born on November 13, 1949 in a small province in northeast Thailand. In the past, the rural areas were always visited by merchant caravans traveling from far away, including Bangkok. They passed by every village and sold their products and they advertised at outdoor cinemas we called nang klang pang. Films were shown on temple grounds, and people sat on the floor. I can remember the atmosphere even now - the merchants would stop the movie every half hour to present their products while us children would run up to buy sweets. What I loved best about the cinema is that it was like traveling to faraway lands. It was like revealing a world in the times when we didn`t even know about television. It made me feel like I was traveling to those places with the actors and I enjoyed it. I made up my mind to travel when I grew
