My name is Praphan Pangtong and you can call me `Ta.` I was born in northern Thailand on March 7, 1974. I have a sister and an older brother but my father and brother died in 1995. I used to live with my mother and my sister but have been on my own on account of my job ever since they moved to eastern Thailand. Painting and takraw are my skills - takraw is a kind of volleyball played with feet, shoulders and head with a ball made of woven rattan. Once I was selected to play takraw at the professional level but was injured and could not make it. "When I was younger my uncle ran a poster shop and I loved to watch him painting. I wanted to be like him but my mother wanted me to learn electronics. Anyway, as my family lacked money, I quit studying early and worked for four years to help them. As soon as I could, I resumed studying, first three years at a vocational college followed by two years in the Institute of Technology`s Fine Art Department. Unfortunately I could not pursue a bachelor`s degree because I was really broke. So I got a job in Lamphoon, but three years later I resigned because I couldn`t work under strict rules and regulations I am an artist!
