"Just before applying the last touch, I found a violin image in the painting" he confides. "That`s why I named it `Song of Nature.`" Handmade by Widiantara "My name is Ngurah Widiantara. I am the oldest of three children. My father is a teacher and my mother works as a tailor. Since I was little, I loved to read comics and other stories with pictures. This was the beginning of my other hobby, which is drawing. Together with friends, almost everyday I created drawings in the dirt. After I graduated from secondary school, my brother-in-law, who is an art lecturer in the university, considered my drawing hobby as a talent. Supported by him, I continued my study in a school of art where I majored in traditional painting. I also learned painting in the style of Ubud from Gusti Ketut Ngurah Suryawan and lived in his house for almost three years. "Almost a year after graduating, I got to know more painters who work in a modern style. This encouraged me to learn modern painting and I continued studying in another university of art. "The various painting styles I have learned in both formal and informal ways have made me positive about choosing painting as my profession."Widiantara has exhibited his work throughout Bali and Java as well as in Canberra, Australia (1988) and Singapur (2003).
